Moriarty foiled in Sweden

Colm Moriarty saw his bid for a maiden professional victory at the European Challenge Tour's Skandia PGA Open end in disappointment.
Moriarty foiled in Sweden

He carded a final round of four over par 74 to fall to fifth place, having gone into the last day at Arlandstad Golf Club in Sweden in a tie for first.

He never fully recovered from dropping three strokes in his opening four holes and had to settle for fifth place on five under par, while Scotsman David Patrick - with whom Moriarty shared the lead after three rounds - eventually triumphed in a sudden-death-play-off against England's Stuart Davis.

It was a disappointing weekend for the Irish Challenge Tour contingent. Dubliner Stephen Browne finished four behind Morairty in Sweden, while Belfast's Michael Hoey only managed a share of 14th place at the Rolex Trophy, where David Higgins missed the cut.
