THERE was a keen struggle in the quarter finals of the Munster Ladies Senior Championship at Nenagh yesterday when the two eighteen year olds at the head of the field fought it out to reach the semi-finals.

Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway) got home on the 17th green when she beat her fellow former girl international Catherine Tucker (Limerick). Eileen Rose Power (Kilkenny) many times former winner had an easy 5 & 4 win over Lillian Harrington (East Cork).

In the morning the Cork girl had to go to the 21st hole to beat Pat Doran (Donabate). Pamela Murphy (The Island) had an easy 5 & 4 win over Munster interprovincial Mary Sheehy (Tralee) who led the qualifiers on the first day.

And in the final match, quarter finals, Tracy Eakin (Killarney) beat Laura Ryan (Thurles) by 3 & 2. There were two aces during the championship. Yesterday Ailish Thompson (Douglas) holed out at the eight but nevertheless, had to take second place to the Dublin girl, Pamela Murphy. On the previous day, Ann Holland (Mallow) also holed out at the eight but failed to win through.
