McHenry rolls back the years

JOHN McHENRY produced a blast from the past at Co Louth yesterday to top the leaderboard in the Irish Region qualifier for the Glenmuir Club Pro Championship next month.

The K Club’s head pro fired a three under par 69 to head the eight Irish players who will battle it out with the qualifiers from other regions in the British Isles. The championship will be played at Woodhall Spa on June 14-17.

McHenry made an unsteady start as he pencilled in par-bogey at the opening two holes but never dropped a stroke from there. He made birdie at the third and sixth holes to turn one-under-par and made birdie’s at 10 and 14 on the way home.
