Fota Golf Academy will be state-of-the-art

SEAMUS O'MAHONY, financial advisor to the Fleming Group, owners of the 550-acre Fota Island Golf Club and Resort in Cork, has announced that the state-of-the-art Golf Academy will be opened in June.

This will be after the club hosts the AIB Irish Seniors Open over the June Bank Holiday weekend.

The academy will have a 4,000-square-metre practice tee, with separate chipping green surrounded by bunkers, plus an outdoor putting green and a short game area with various targets.

The academy building has 10 covered bays and an indoor putting green.

The building will also house two large teaching rooms with the latest hi-tech video and computer systems plus golf instruction aids. For instance, the GASP computer system compares your golf swing with the top players, while the SAM Puttlab analyses your putting stroke.

Teaching professionals, Jamie O'Sullivan and Brian Kelleher, have designed programmes for golfers of all different standards.
