Nostalgic return for Egan

Monkstown’s Tom Egan made a nostalgic return to County Louth Golf Club last week and played alongside Pádraig Harrington in the Nissan Irish Open Pro-Am.

It was in Baltray in 1962 that Tom captured the East of Ireland Championship - an outstanding victory made all the more memorable in that he carded eight birdies in a row on his way to establishing a new course record of 67. Egan is still a formidable performer and his prowess was much in evidence at Baltray last week as well when he equalled par on 12 occasions over the testing links.
