People were singing the French anthem just as lustily as he was - and they were all bedecked in Irish flags.

That’s the most graphic example of the massive Irish crowd that turned up for the Ryder Cup weekend and supported their own players and the entire European team with undisguised delight. As Colin Montgomerie said: “It seemed like half of Scotland and Ireland was out there.”
