Munster pair down the field

The Munster pair of Rory Wyley and Eugene Moriarty of the Cycleways.Com had to settle for the minor placings in both the Classic League and the Sheefrey Grand Prix in Westport.

David McCann made a surprise visit to his native Mayo and not only won the Atlantic Hotel-sponsored grand prix, but also finished on equal points with Wyley to share the Classic League competition.

Eight riders made a break from the bunch on the approach to Louisburgh and from then it was curtains for the rest. With 20 miles remaining, only McCann, Wyley, Moriarty and Murphy were in contention.
