Monty's collision course

NOT since Carnoustie dominated the headlines before, during and after the 1999 British Open has a tournament venue generated such debate as Colin Montgomerie's Carton House in the build-up to this year's Nissan Irish Open.

The €2 million tournament gets under way at 7.20am today with awful weather forecast for the four days.

If that comes to pass, Carton will gain a reputation as one of the toughest courses on the European Tour.
