Dignam's Louth lead

John Dignam tamed the wind at Co Louth yesterday in the Irish qualifying round for the Glenmuir Club Professional Championship.

Dignam's Louth lead

The 37-year-old from the Slade Valley club near Dublin came out on top by five strokes, his 69 (-3) highlighted by an eagle three at the long third where a five-iron second shot soared 190 yards, finishing 15 feet from the flag.

The Glenmuir final winner picks up €15,000 and points towards selection for the 10-man PGA Cup team to meet the US in the club pros' version of the Ryder Cup in September, 2005, at the K Club.
