Sam Torrance has shrugged off concerns over the European team’s form ahead of the Ryder Cup next month — and claimed their American opponents have just as many players struggling.

A dismal performance at the US PGA Championship with Sergio Garcia and Pierre Fulke the best-placed Europeans in a distant tenth has thrown into doubt the ability of Torrance's side to regain the September 11-delayed trophy at The Belfry.

Of greater concern is that team stalwarts like Colin Montgomerie, Darren Clarke, Lee Westwood and Thomas Bjorn all missed the cut and appear to be some way from their peak form.
