In the second match, 38-year-old reinstated professional Jim Carvill comes up against the 20-year-old Hermitage golfer Brian O’Connor.

The McNamara Builders sponsored championship came alight in yesterday’s glorious sunshine after a few days of relative mediocrity. Some of the shot making in the quarter-finals was of professional standard, with Aaron O’Callaghan’s towering second that reached the green at the long 12th from the least favourable of positions and Murray’s two iron from 248 yards into the breeze at the 10th standing out.
