GUI issue handicap guidelines

THE GUI has reviewed Clause 19.4 (b) relating to general play handicap reductions and has issued guidelines with regard to players consistently returning good scores or above average results in golf classics or similar team events, pro-ams, fourballs, foursomes, matchplay competitions and team events (except junior team events and mixed foursomes).

They state that, in the interest of uniformity of application, every time a player who has two such performances in a calendar year, shall have his handicap reduced as follows:

Category One: 0.0 shot (players with handicaps of 3.4 and under); 0.1 shot (players with handicaps of 3.5 and over); Category Two: 0.5 shot; Category 3: 1.0 shot; Category 4: 1.5 shots.
