I’m looking forward to the USPGA, but I hope my game is ready
The USPGA Championship may not have the high profile of the other three but it’s a major for all that and has produced some great finishes in recent years.
Unfortunately, the Europeans haven’t fared very well in the PGA and I think I know why. In many ways, it’s like an ordinary US Tour event because the winning score is usually something 12 to 15 under par. Last year, David Toms shot 265 in Atlanta, the year before Tiger Woods totalled 270 at Valhalla, Vijay Singh won with 271 at Sahalee in 1998. Our players do better in tournaments where par or just a few under is a good score.
