36 holes in a day sure to test Clarke’s fitness

DARREN CLARKE’S new fitness regime is certain to come under the spotlight after strong wind and torrential rain forced the postponement of yesterday’s second round in the Volvo Masters.

Clarke and his four Ireland compatriots are now looking staring at the prospect of having to play 36 holes (second and third round combined) at Valderrama today and the likelihood of a Monday finish if all four rounds are not completed by Sunday evening.

Near gale force winds lashed the Costa del Sol course which was then flooded by heavy rain, putting paid to the likelihood of any play.
