Ennis victory in foursomes

The Ennis pairing of John Kearse and Wexford native Anne Kehoe made light of the bad weather conditions at Muskerry yesterday to win the Irish Examiner sponsored Munster Mixed Foursomes Cup from an entry of 44 clubs.

Playing in heavy rain for most of their round, 10 handicapper John Kearse and his 19 handicap partner went round in 82 strokes for a winning 67.5 nett.

Long time leaders Macroom, represented by club President Michael Furey (13) and Margaret Buckley (18), finished second with 68.5 - the feature being a splendid back nine of 38.
