Nightmare start for Monty

COLIN MONTGOMERIE stormed out of the Gary Player Country Club after making the sort of nightmare start which even weekend hackers dread on the first hole of the Nedbank Challenge at Sun City.

Ireland’s top two of Padraig Harrington and Darren Clarke fared better, but made relatively slow starts.

Clark’s level-par 72 was achieved in an unconventional manner, and he was left to rue falling from three-under with three holes to play.
