Weather puts a damper on Italian Open

More than two-and-a-half inches of rain fell on the Castello di Tolcinasco course since Thursday evening and left large parts of it under water.

Tournament director Mike Stewart decided to call off play for the day at 11.30am local time. Any further delays will raise the prospect of a reduced halfway cut, a Monday finish or reducing the tournament to 54 holes.
