Walton among recipients of €250,000 golf tour grant

FORMER Ryder Cup star Phillip Walton is among the recipients of a quarter of a million euro grant allocation announced by the Team Ireland Golf Trust last night.

The Trust targets golfers who have playing rights on the major tours and young golfers who are starting out to compete on the professional golf circuit.

Walton is the most high profile of the players, receiving a special award of €15,000 in recognition of his need for assistance in his first year back on the European Tour.
