Immortality for Na Piarsaigh as Cushendall rue big-day flop

Never mind the quality, feel the result. Na Piarsaigh made history yesterday in Croke Park as they became the first Limerick club to win the All-Ireland senior hurling club title, overturning years of Shannonside misery in Dublin 3 to bring silverware to the Treaty City.
That the game was a blow-out, with the result a given long before the final whistle, wasn’t their fault. Na Piarsaigh overwhelmed Cushendall of Antrim, striking a goal in the first minute to settle themselves and put doubt into their opponents, and spent much of the hour nursing a double-digit lead.
