Sligo appoint Tyrone’s three-time All-Ireland winner Joe McMahon as head coach

Tyrone’s three-time All-Ireland SFC winner Joe McMahon will be Sligo’s head coach in 2027.

McMahon will work alongside manager Dessie Sloyan, assistant manager Eamon O’Hara and selectors Paul Higgins and former Donegal defender Eamon McGee.

McMahon, who was part of Tyrone’s 2021 All-Ireland winning coaching group and was with Robbie Brennan’s Meath set-up for part of the 2025 season, will also have company in the form of Omagh St Enda’s club-mate Des McGuinness as Sligo’s goalkeeping coach.

Seán Boyle, Sligo GAA’s head of performance games development, remains in the strength and conditioning brief and former Longford footballer Michael Quinn comes on board as performance coach.

Sligo’s hurlers will again be managed by Tom Hennessy. Reece Armstrong continues as coach while Na Fianna’s Dermot Moran is also on board.

The county’s U20 footballers will be once more be led by Stephen Henry, who guided Sligo to an U20B title in 2026. Ross Donovan, Adrian McPartland, Keelan Cawley and Damian Eames will be coaches.
