Intrigue over line-ups for both Imokilly and UCC

A first county championship outing of the year for both. The intrigue here is the line-up both sides come with.

While there can be some element of guesswork with regard to Imokilly, there is much more of an unknown to what, or rather who, UCC will bring.

Ballygunner hammered Imokilly 5-27 to 1-15 in June’s Abernethy Cup, albeit the East Cork side were incredibly depleted on the evening, featuring only three of their 2024 county-winning team.

Ciarán Joyce is ruled out, and it remains to be seen how many of the experienced guard, such as Bill Cooper, Brian Lawton, John Cronin, and Mike Russell, have again signed up for divisional duty.

Wednesday’s clash represents their first meeting since 2021, which Imokilly won by the minimum. The expectation is that they will again come out on top.
