'We seem to be on the receiving end of these fairly regularly' - Queally questions ref calls

Waterford manager Peter Queally took exception to some of the refereeing calls against his team in their Munster SHC Round 2 draw with Tipperary.
Tipp were awarded an early second-half penalty when Mark Fitzgerald was adjudged to have fouled John McGrath and Billy Nolan saved from Darragh McCarthy.
In the first half, Queally was booked for contesting a free given to Tipperary and the free was brought into the centre of the 20m line and converted as a point by McCarthy.
“There would have been a few (decisions) that I wasn't happy with,” said Queally. “I'm not going to get into it too much, I know refs are doing their best, but in my opinion we seem to be on the receiving end of these fairly regularly and that's not just me feeling sorry for myself or pointing fingers, that's just the nature of it.”Â
Otherwise, Queally was feeling a whirlwind of emotions. Proud of his team for rescuing a point while at the same time wondering what might have been when they had gone from 11 points down at half-time to four points up with four minutes of normal time remaining.
“I've mixed emotions at the moment. Obviously, we didn't perform in the first half and we stood off our men. We addressed things at half-time and made a couple of changes, a couple of formation changes," he added.
“The fight and the spirit they showed in the second half was very encouraging and I'm obviously very proud of the lads the way they turned things around when things weren't going well for us.
“And also, the way they hung in in the end. We put ourselves in a winning position with some excellent hurling for 30 minutes in the second half.
“Tipp showed why they're All-Ireland champions and reeled off five points when they were under the cosh there and our lads never dropped the heads, they kept going and going and got the goal at the end for a share of the spoils and we were delighted with that.”Â
Scoring 1-10 to add to his 3-12 haul in Ennis last weekend, Stephen Bennett once more delivered in spades for Waterford and their manager was effusive in his praise for him.
“As the game goes on, he gets better and you're on the sideline and you're close to him and you see this ball coming up between three Tipperary fellas and Stevie and he has this uncanny knack of being able to bring it down to himself, secure it, lose them and score. It's phenomenal what he can do really.”Â
With Cork coming to town on Saturday week, Queally knows the do’s and don’t’s. “We need to repeat what we did in the second half for both halves, we can't afford to stand off teams at any level and allow them the freedom of Walsh Park.
“We've a lot of analysis and work to do in the next 13 days to get everything right for what's going to be a huge game for us in two weeks' time.”
