Colm Garde replacing the absent Barry Walsh is the sole change to the Cork U20 hurling team for Wednesday’s Munster Round 3 game away to Waterford (Fraher Field, 7.35pm).

With Barry Walsh, who struck 2-23 across Cork’s opening two games, pulled by the senior management ahead of their Munster opener against Tipp on Sunday, Colm Garde of Lisgoold has been called up to the first 15. Garde was first sub in during both of Cork’s two games to date.

He’s been named at midfield, with Johnny Murphy moving from the inside line out to the centre-forward berth typically occupied by Walsh.

John Murphy, who was suspended for the Limerick win after picking up a straight red card first evening out against Tipp, is included on the bench.

Victory for the Cork U20s at Fraher Field, such have been the winless starts of Waterford and Limerick, would almost certainly guarantee a top three finish and involvement in the knockout phase. Lose and their fate will be determined by the final game against Clare, at home, on April 29.

On the Waterford side, Sean Mackey, who went off injured at half-time in the defeat to Tipp a fortnight ago, is not listed among the Waterford starting line-up or subs.

Having featured for the Déise seniors during the League, Mackey, the same as Cork's Barry Walsh, would be in line to make his senior championship debut this weekend.
