Long before the split-season debate was so maligned that a motion to adjust the calendar didn’t even make it to the Congress floor, Galway were urging the association to look elsewhere. Don’t change the season, make the most of it.
County chair Paul Bellew was a vocal opponent of the possible extension of the inter-county season; however, long before this year’s congress, where a clear message was sent regarding the lack of support for such a move, the county submitted a document to Croke Park proposing a complete overhaul of the inter-county calendar.
