Neil Ewing: Tiresome split-season debate revolves around the cult of the inter-county manager

Like most GAA debates, this one frequently dissolves into madness. A madness that at no point looks at the root cause.

The split-season debate wearies me. In particular, how it has morphed into a club player versus media row.

This can be distilled as club players liking the split season and wanting it to continue, while media who feel there is a better alternative to the current split-season arrangement just want a longer inter-county season to make their jobs easier.
