Nine of the team that began Tipperary’s All-Ireland final win over Cork have been included for Saturday’s Division 1A, Round 3 clash with their rivals in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
Another three of that starting side – Eoghan Connolly, Darragh McCarthy and hurler of the year John McGrath – along with Noel McGrath have been named on the substitutes bench by Liam Cahill.
The team shows five changes from the side that started the handsome win over Offaly last weekend. Rhys Shelly replaces Barry Hogan in goal, Sam O’Farrell comes into defence for Conor Martin and in attack Jake Morris, Darragh Stakelum and Oisín O’Donoghue fill Gearóid O’Connor, Jack Leamy and Paddy McCormack’s places.
Hogan, Martin and McCormack are named among the reserves.
Meanwhile, Cork manager Ben O’Connor has selected 10 members of the side beaten in the All-Ireland final with Brian Hayes, who scored two goals in their win over Galway last time out, remaining on the bench.
In total there are six changes from that victory with Ger Millerick coming in for his first start of the year with Seán O’Donoghue also included, with Niall O’Leary and Eoin Roche missing out.
At midfield, Ethan Twomey and Micheál Mullins form a new pairing after Brian O’Sullivan and Tommy O’Connell played there last week and Diarmuid Healy takes over from Séamus Harnedy in the half-forward line.
The other switch is at number 13, where William Buckley – who scored 1-4 in his league debut against Waterford a fortnight ago – comes in in place of Brian Roche.
Included among the Cork substitutes is Ciarán Joyce, who has yet to see action this year due to a minor hamstring injury.
Meanwhile Limerick and Kilkenny have also named their teams for their clash at the TUS Gaelic Grounds on Sunday afternoon (throw-in 3.45pm).
