Cusack Park, Ennis will stage the Harty Cup final on Saturday week after a toss for venue went the way of St Flannan’s College.
With the Gaelic Grounds unavailable to stage the Munster post-primary decider between St Flannan’s and Nenagh CBS, it was decided to toss for venue. Had the toss gone the way of the Tipperary school, the game would be going to Semple Stadium.
And while St Flannan’s will have the much shorter journey to make for the 1pm throw-in on Saturday, January 31, Nenagh won’t have many complaints about traveling to a venue where they secured the school’s first-ever Harty Cup success two years ago.
Three survivors remain from that sensational, at-the-death victory over Ardscoil Rís. Eoghan Doughan is the sole member from the current Nenagh group to have started the history-making victory, with Austin Duff and Joe O’Dwyer coming off the bench the same day in Ennis.
St Flannans' 2-19 to 3-11 weekend semi-final win over St Joseph’s Tulla was also played at Cusack Park.
The Ennis College is attempting to atone for last year’s final defeat to Thurles CBS and, in the process, secure Flannans’ 23rd Harty crown.
