MAYO TEAM NEWS: Cillian O'Connor, Rob Hennelly and James Carr all return to the Mayo senior panel.

Rob Hennelly, Cillian O’Connor and James Carr have all returned to the Mayo senior football panel.

Goalkeeper Hennelly, who retired from inter-county football last December at the age of 34, currently plays his club football with Raheny in Dublin.

Manager Andy Moran has persuaded him back into the fold as he has O’Connor, who is also Dublin-based and took the decision to sit out this past season.

The 33-year-old, the championship’s all-time record scorer, did not retire but was keen to take a break having made his senior debut for Mayo at the age of 19.

Ardagh man Carr, 28, also opted out of the panel this year after some knee issues but is part of Moran’s plans for 2026.

Moran has also recruited Donegal’s 2012 All-Ireland winning goalkeeper Paul Durcan as his goalkeeping coach. The Four Masters man lives in the county and joins a management team already featuring head coach Paddy Tally and coach/selector Colm Boyle.

Mayo’s 2026 National Football League Division 1 campaign commences with a trip to Galway on the weekend of January 24/25.
