County boards across the three Gaelic games associations have been requested to establish their own county-specific integration work groups by the end of the year.

As GAA county chairpersons are to meet next week to discuss their concerns about the integration process, the boards in the GAA, Ladies Gaelic Football and Camogie Associations have received correspondence to begin choosing people to represent them on the merged committees.

An email was sent on Thursday to the county board chairpersons and secretaries seeking participation. It read: “As we look ahead to integration, we are excited to begin the next stage of collaboration by forming County Integration Work Groups. These groups will provide an important forum for open, localised discussions, helping to shape how integration will work best across our counties.

“We warmly invite each unit to begin identifying suitable representatives to join their County Integration Work Group. Starting this process now will ensure that we’re ready to begin working together in January 2026, following the County Conventions.

“The goal of these work groups is to: provide a structured forum for local discussions; create space for two-way dialogue and shared understanding; bring together local knowledge and experience to inform integration planning; support a coordinated approach to integration at county level.

“We genuinely value your insight and input. Your participation in these discussions will help ensure that the integration process reflects the realities and strengths of each county.”

As reported by the Irish Examiner earlier this week, a number of GAA county chairpersons will shortly come together to talk about common questions they have around the amalgamation, which is due to be completed in 2027. There is alarm among them about the lack of information on matters such as structures, finance and logistics from the national steering committee.
