2024 All-Star Rian O'Neill looks set for a return to intercounty action after arriving with the Armagh team for the Ulster final clash with Donegal at St Tiernach’s Park, Clones.
The All-Ireland winner arrived on the team bus carrying a gear bag. In the pen pics submitted by Armagh for the match programme, O’Neill was also included.
O’Neill has not been involved with Armagh so far in 2025. Speaking after their defeat against Kerry in the National League, manager Kieran McGeeney said that it was unconfirmed if the Crossmaglen man would play this season.
“I would doubt it; he has his own stuff going on,” he said at the time.
O’Neill was also in attendance at their home fixture against Dublin. His last competitive game for Armagh was the 2024 All-Ireland final victory. The forward scored one point in that decider.
The 26-man panel submitted by Armagh for Saturday’s final did not include O’Neill, however a team can make a late change in the case of an injury proven by a medical report, a suspension or if the committee-in-charge accept that a clear administration error has occurred.
