Very hard for O'Rourke to refuse approach from 'passionate' Tyrone

It may have been felt that Tyrone was always on the cards for O’Rourke, but simply swapping horses after what he gave to Monaghan was not.

If Monaghan was Malachy O’Rourke’s last inter-county managerial post, he wouldn’t have minded.

Before that, there was his native Fermanagh but seven years and two Ulster titles with Monaghan up to 2019 had taken a bit out of him.
