Galway GAA chairman Bellew insists August All-Ireland finals would be 'a terrible thing'

With hefty dual club championship schedules to complete, Galway remain steadfast against the idea of the finals being moved from July.

Galway chairman Paul Bellew has countered GAA director general Tom Ryan’s claim that extending the inter-county season “would be no bad thing”.

While Ryan has spoken about the organisation’s need to forge a tradition of summer All-Ireland finals, in his annual report earlier this month he indicated support for the championships concluding in August.
