Kerry are behind the curve. They are behind the curve in building fitness and building familiarity with the new rules. That was the message, above all others, Jack O’Connor wanted to get across.

In contrast to Kerry’s sole two-pointer two minutes from the finish, Donegal had three orange flags raised by the 40th minute. It should have been four. Paddy McBrearty was wide with a 29th minute free from just outside the arc having converted from the same position in the previous play.
