Loreto Kilkenny 0-14 Presentation Thurles 0-3

St Patrick’s Maghera 4-14 Gort Community school 0-6

LORETO Kilkenny and St Patrick’s Maghera will meet in the Corn Sceilge All-Ireland senior camogie final on February 15th after both schools comfortably won their semi-finals on the road on Saturday.

Holders Loreto are through to their 11th final since their first victory in 2010. They dominated the semi-final against Presentation Thurles in Upperchurch Drumbane with good off-the-shoulder running and some excellent scores.

But the Leinster champions weren’t without fault and will have some work to do before they add to their nine titles.

With Angela Carroll and Anna Doheny outstanding in defence, they held Presentation scoreless for the opening 25 minutes and landed the first six points with Holly Ryan, Aoife Shealy and free-taker Ona Kennedy prominent.

Presentation eventually added two points before the break via Elana McGrath and Ciara Shelly, but were still 0-7 to 0-2 down.

The holders dominated the second half with Ryan, Kennedy and Sarah Kehoe all finding the range to push Loreto to victory on a day when they were the dominant team despite the best efforts of Eva Ralph, Neasa Dwan and Ciara Shelly from Presentation.

Meanwhile in Beagh, a hat-trick from Slaughtneil corner-forward Aoibh Mulholland sent St Patrick’s Maghera through to their second final in three seasons as they dominated Gort Community school.

Mulholland’s goal in the 27th minute along with six points from free-taker Emma Quinn saw Maghera take an interval lead of 1-7 to 0-5 despite playing against the breeze. Aisling Dolphin scored all five Gort points and added the other in the second half.

A double strike from Mulholland in the 39th and 41st minutes killed the game and vice-captain Katie McCloskey added a fourth goal a few minutes later for a comprehensive victory.

A point from a 45 from Helen Duignan rescued a draw for Our Lady’s Templeogue in a superb Allianz Mary Moran Cup semi-final in Dr Hyde Park Roscommon.

The local Mercy side had edged ahead in added time but that point from Player of the Match Duignan means that the teams will meet again midweek at a Dublin venue to decide who progresses to a semi-final against Coláiste Mhuire Johnstown on February 15th.

The other semi-final was closely fought before two late goals edged Coláiste Mhuire Johnstown over the line. The first came from Tipperary under-age player Taylor Corbet and then the second from a long distance free, scored by Orla Brophy, broke the homes team’s hearts.

Bandon made the early running with a goal direct from a Laura Sheehy free after 16 minutes giving them a lead of 1-2 to 0-1. That was still the gap when they changed ends, 1-4 to 0-3.

A point from Corbet in the 52nd minute levelled matters, but Bandon went a point up with their only score of the second half from Sheehy before the late fireworks from Johnstown.
