Crossmolina GAA club 'devastated' by 'tragic incident', All-Ireland final postponed

Derry and Ulster champions Ballinerry were due to play Mayo and Connacht champions Crossmolina Deel Rovers in the All-Ireland club IFC final at Croke Park.

The All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship final between Ballinderry and Crossmolina Deel Rovers, which was due to be played at Croke Park on Sunday, has been postponed due to "tragic events" connected to the Mayo team. 

In a statement, Crossmolina GAA club said they are "are devastated at the news of the tragic incident that has occurred. Our heartfelt thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time. We have been in contact with our members involved, and they have requested that we all understand their need for privacy at this incredibly difficult time."

The Ballinderry club said that their "thoughts are with the Crossmolina community, and all impacted at this time."

Earlier, the GAA announced that "Due to tragic events, the AIB GAA Football All-Ireland Intermediate Club Championship Final between Crossmolina Deel Rovers and Ballinderry is postponed. The CCCC will confirm the re-fixture details in due course."

Last weekend, Mayo champions Crossmolina defeated Kildare's Caragh to reach the decider while Derry champions Ballinderry beat Kerry's Austin Stacks in their last four game.
