Templemore inflict heavy defeat on Coláiste Choilm in opening Harty Cup fixture

Although Eoin Dwyer carried the Coláiste fight, a first-half in which Templemore dominated meant any second-half fightback from the Ballincollig school - who are in their second year at the Harty Cup level - would likely fall short.

Harty Cup: Our Lady’s Secondary School, Templemore: 3-25 Coláiste Choilm: 1-12

Our Lady's Secondary School, Templemore inflicted a heavy defeat on Ballincollig's Coláiste Choilm in this Harty Cup Group 2 opener in Tipperary Town.

Although Eoin Dwyer carried the Coláiste fight, a first-half in which Templemore dominated meant any second-half fightback from the Ballincollig school - who are in their second year at the Harty Cup level - would likely fall short.

Although Coláiste forward Dwyer did register a fine score after good play from Danny Miskella and Shane Rue O'Sullivan early on, it didn't take long for Templemore to take control of proceedings.

They struck 1-6 without response. The first quarter ended 1-7 to 0-1, with Seán Stapleton scoring the goal after nine minutes after an Eoin Boyle assist.

Coláiste free-taker Dwyer scored a long-range placed ball, but with ten minutes remaining, the Tipp side had a 1-11 to 0-2 lead.

The victors would hit three of the last four points up to the short whistle. 1-14 to 0-4 at half-time.

Coláiste Choilm Tadhg Murphy pointed impressively to open the second-half, but it wasn't long before Templemore rattled the net once more - Philip O'Dwyer profiting on this occasion.

The Ballincollig outfit did hit back with three of the next six points to leave the score at 2-17 to 0-8. Among scores for both sides, Chris Dunne goaled for a third Templemore green flag.

From there, although Cian O'Connor did grab a goal for Ballincollig, Templemore saw out proceedings rather comfortably.
