Laois GAA announced on Monday night that Darren Gleeson has been ratified as the new manager of the county's senior hurling team. The Tipperary man was recommended for the role by Laois' executive committee last month.
Gleeson, a two-time All-Ireland winner with Tipperary, stepped down as Antrim manager in July after five seasons in charge. He led them to two Joe McDonagh Cup wins and the 2020 Allianz Hurling League Division 2 title during that time.

Gleeson succeeds fellow Tipperary native Willie Maher who had been Laois boss for the last two seasons. He led them to this year's Joe McDonagh Cup final where they lost narrowly to Offaly.
