There has been a resolution to the Kerry fixture clash controversy with the ladies intermediate and senior ladies’ finals as well as the SFC quarter-final now all set to take place in Austin Stack Park on Sunday.
Kerry’s County Board came in for criticism after the SFC quarter-final between East Kerry and St Kieran’s was fixed for the same time and venue as the intermediate ladies’ final. In a statement on social media, councillor Charlie Farrelly from Castleisland called for the SFC quarter-final to be moved.
“If this is allowed to happen, I really think the Kerry County Board and its officers should bow their heads in shame for the total disregard of Kerry LGFA that they have shown on this occasion, and on other occasions in the past,” he said.
Scartaglen and MKL Gaels were due to meet in Austin Stack Park at 2pm this Sunday with the Senior Ladies final involving Castleisland Desmonds and Southern Gaels fixed for 4pm. However, the Garvey’s Supervalu County Championship fixtures were released on Sunday with defending champions East Kerry taking on St Kieran’s confirmed for the Tralee ground at 2pm.
Scartaglen vs MKL Gaels will now take place at 4.30pm with the senior final scheduled for 6.30pm.
The other Kerry SFC quarter-finals include a double-header in Fitzgerald Stadium on Sunday with Templenoe vs Dingle fixed for 1.30pm and Dr Crokes vs Rathmore at 3.30pm. St Brendan’s Board vs Kenmare Shamrocks will be played in Fitzgerald Stadium on Saturday at 3.30pm.
