A fast Kilshannig start laid the foundations for what turned out to be a comprehensive win for Kilshannig over Castletownbere in the Cork Premier Intermediate football championship clash at Castletownkinneigh.
The meeting of last season’s beaten semi-finalists was highly anticipated, with Castletownbere’s promotion from Division 3 looking an impressive feat coming into the contest.
However, Kilshanning, with Cork star Killian O'Hanlon restored to their midfield, would eventually have a cool 14 points to spare over their Group C counterparts.
The aforementioned fast start came by way of a nine-points to-two lead built up by the halfway mark, as Castletownbere failed to register a score until the 19th minute. By that stage, the deficit was six.
Although the Beara outfit managed to double their output after the interval, a pair of Kilshanning green flags from Darragh O'Sullivan and Eanna O'Hanlon - who shot 1-5 and 1-4 respectively - took proceedings out of Castletownbere's reach.
Injury-returnee Killian O'Hanlon registered three points for his side.
