A seat at Cork’s post-hurling final banquet will set supporters back €175.
Cork GAA announced late Tuesday morning that the post-All-Ireland hurling final banquet will take place at the Clayton Hotel on the Burlington Road. The event will be hosted by One Cork - a fundraising wing of Cork GAA.
The €175 ticket covers dinner and the post-meal entertainment.
The booking form on the Cork GAA website allows interested patrons to reserve a full 10-person table at €1,750.
Interest in the event, despite the asking price, is sure to be high on a day when the county seeks a first All-Ireland hurling crown in 19 years.
The central objective of One Cork is “to propel all Cork teams to the pinnacle of their potential, ensuring unwavering support for their success. This involves providing comprehensive financial backing for Cork GAA and stabilising the financial standing of SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh (PuC)”.
Meanwhile, the Cork clubs with senior hurlers on their local football team had until close of business on Tuesday, July 9 to request their Premier SFC opener be moved from its current slot of the Friday after the All-Ireland hurling final.
St Finbarr’s (Brian Hayes), Castlehaven (the Cahalane brothers), Newcestown (Luke Meade), and Douglas (Shane Kingston) all open their county football championship account on Friday, July 26, five days after Cork’s All-Ireland final date with Clare.
While Cork fixture-makers opted against changes to the opening round of county football championship fixtures across July 26/27/28, they have not closed the door to the possibility of Friday’s top-tier games being moved to a later slot in the weekend to allow a larger break for players involved in the All-Ireland hurling final the weekend previous.
“As clarified at last week's county committee meeting, there will be no change to the Cork GAA master fixture plan following yesterday's win by the senior hurlers,” Cork GAA informed clubs.
“The fixture plan, as ratified at the beginning of the year, took the possibility of Cork reaching an All-Ireland hurling final into account, with the county senior, intermediate and premier junior football championships due to start on the following weekend (July 26-28).
“If clubs with Cork senior hurlers involved wish to seek an adjustment in their fixture to a later time over the same weekend, the county CCC will consider such requests up until close of business on tomorrow, Tuesday, July 9.”
