For Jim McGuinness, the ambition never changed. Despite their defeat to Cork, they came to Castlebar determined to secure top spot in the group and put themselves in the best place to challenge for an All-Ireland. Mission accomplished.

“It is why we pushed so hard in the second half there to make sure of our position,” said McGuinness. Donegal ran out 25-point victors as they looked to improve their scoring difference in Group 3.
