It had been a nagging doubt for Davy Fitzgerald and unfortunately for Waterford it came to pass – the one-week turnaround from pushing Clare to the edge was not enough.

“I'd have liked to see us a small bit fresher," he said after the 0-30 to 2-14 defeat --  but there's no point me making excuses. Limerick are going for five in a row and I've nothing but respect for them. Some team. We'd it back to two points. I think there's a bit more in us than what we showed.
