The rivalry is real. Mayo are the opponent that have defined Pádraic Joyce’s reign. For better and for worse.

A bright liftoff was brought crashing back to earth in 2020 when Mayo hammered Galway by 15 points in the league. At the time, Joyce was typically blunt in his assessment: “probably the most embarrassing day of my career.”
