McStay: Connacht passport perfect for Mayo's summer rhythm

Mayo manager Kevin McStay believes winning a Connacht title is important for his side's bigger ambitions.

Kevin McStay was delighted to simply pocket “a passport to the Connacht final” after Mayo overcame Roscommon in Dr Hyde Park on Sunday in the Connacht SFC semi-final. McStay believes it is important for this group to win a Connacht title, a feat they haven’t achieved since 2021. The schedule of playing every two weeks will be perfect for his troops, McStay believes.

He told RTE News: “I will be selfish myself as manager, we needed to get to a Connacht final. This group, we needed to get to a Connacht final and then factor in that the rhythm is more to your liking if you can get the win of course.
