For the third time in three and a half seasons, Clare picked up their third black card in the Division 1 final.

In the celebrations that followed, the matter was largely forgotten about, although on RTÉ’s  League Sunday  Anthony Daly claimed referee Johnny Murphy may have been too rash in punishing Mark Rodgers.
