2021 All-Ireland minor champions Meath were the only team without a game in last week’s Eirgrid Leinster U-20 FC first round, but the Royals exploded into the competition tonight in Ashbourne, racking up an 0-18 to 2-5 win over Westmeath to eliminate their neighbours from contention.

Westmeath, who were blown away by Dublin’s fast start last week, didn’t make the same mistake. After winning the throw in, the ball was worked to Tadhg Baker (son of former Clare hurler Ollie) who rattled the Meath net with just 18 seconds gone.
