Down goalkeeper Charlie Smyth will join up with the NFL side New Orleans Saints after accepting an offer to try out with them. 

Pro Football Ireland reports that the Mayobridge youngster will team up with the Saints and should he impress could secure a deal to become one of the first of the four Irish hopefuls who are participating in the NFL's International Player Pathway Program (IPP).
