Hannon’s return among eight changes for Limerick

Limerick’s four-time All-Ireland SHC winning captain Declan Hannon has been named to start his first game for the county since last year’s Munster SHC final.

Hannon is included at centre-back and Seán Finn, who has also fought back from a knee injury, is announced as a substitute as John Kiely makes eight changes from the team that were there from the off in the victory over Limerick in Cork last weekend. 

All-Ireland starters Dan Morrissey, David Reidy, Tom Morrissey and Seamus Flanagan are in the 15 with the likes of Diarmaid Byrnes, Peter Casey, Gearóid Hegarty and William O’Donoghue selected as replacements.

Meanwhile, Galway captain Daithí Burke is set to miss Saturday’s Allianz Division 1B game having had his proposed one-match ban upheld.

Galway chose to contest his recommended suspension after he was shown a red card in the closing stages of last Sunday’s win over Dublin in Salthill.

Burke followed through with a tackle on Chris Crummey and will miss the clash with the All-Ireland champions after he was unsuccessful in front of the Central Hearings Committee.

Galway chose not to contest Conor Whelan’s red card and so the two multiple All-Stars will not be available to Henry Shefflin.
