Suir Engineering are the new title sponsors of the Waterford men’s inter-county teams.

The county board were close to agreeing a deal with global telecommunications company Huawei that would have incorporated jerseys and Walsh Park. However, it could not be finalised and Suir, whose head office is on the Old Kilmeaden Road outside Waterford city, will succeed TQS Solutions as their main backers for the next three years. The stadium naming rights remain available.

Celebrating their 40th year in business in 2024, Suir employ 1,500 people and was acquired by private equity firm Duke Street two years ago.

Lismore-based company TQS had been sponsors since the start of the 2018 season having taken over from 3, who had been associated with the team going back to 2010.

Waterford’s agreement with TQS/Cognizant concluded at the end of last season and their hurlers and footballers have worn sponsorless jerseys in the first half of this year’s Allianz Leagues.

The county board executive had been intent on bundling their teams’ sponsorship with that of the newly reconstructed Walsh Park.
