Dream big. They wanted to bring the parishes Kilchreest and Peterswell together and form a hurling club. It was the ultimate punt at a time when there wasn’t a penny to spend on it.

In 1968 Mikie Coleman and his cousin Seán Fahy combined to create St Thomas hurling club. A changing of the papal guard meant there was no opposition from the reigning decision-maker. The previous parish priest had been from Castlegar and may not have been as open to competition.
